Plastic Surgeon in New Jersey - Dr. elkinsDr. Elkins was born and raised in the beautiful state of Arkansas. He earned his B.S. in Microbiology at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1969. He then attended medical school at the University of Arkansas School for Medical Science in Little Rock from 1969 to 1973. Dr. Elkins did an internship at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa in 1973 and then joined the residency program at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa in 1974. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 1977 and moved to Rogers, Arkansas, to begin private practice in obstetrics and gynecology. He was the first Board Certified Obstetrician Gynecologist to practice in Benton County. Dr. Elkins and Dr. Harry Harmon established the Rogers Clinic for Women and Children in 1977.

Soon after beginning practice he attended one of the first liposuction post-graduate courses in the United States at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Elkins was the first physician in Arkansas to do liposuction and one of the first physicians in the mid-United States to perform liposuction. Over the years, he has continued to study, learn and perform new cosmetic procedures.

Today, Dr. Elkins' practice is built around the health and beauty of the female patient. He continues to practice gynecology, infertility, weight loss and other aspects of female health care, but his practice is primarily centered around cosmetic procedures and cosmetic surgery. A new and very important aspect of Dr. Elkins' practice is anti-aging or longevity medicine with total hormone replacement for both men and women.

Dr. Elkins is NOT a plastic surgeon, nor does he claim to be a plastic surgeon. Dr. Elkins is a cosmetic surgeon. As a cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Elkins does procedures and prescribes medications to make people look better, feel better and BE HEALTHIER. He has been doing cosmetic surgery in his office using local and IV sedation for over 23 years. H e was the first physician in Arkansas to perform liposuction. He has been doing breast enlargement surgery in his office for over 13 years. Dr. Elkins is the ONLY physician in the state of Arkansas performing the newest technique in breast enlargement surgery. With this technique, all of the surgery is done through a one-centimeter incision in the bellybutton with no new scars on OR around the breasts, hence the description of the surgery as scarless breast enlargement. Dr. Elkins is Board Certified in a surgical subspecialty. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, which is the largest organized group of cosmetic surgery doctors in the world. Over the years, Dr. Elkins has attended and continues to attend multiple post-graduate training courses in different areas of cosmetic surgery. He has worked with and been trained by some of the best cosmetic surgeons in the world.

Presently, Dr. Elkins performs scarless breast enlargement, breast reduction, breast lift liposuction and body contouring, abdominoplasty, non-surgical facelift, endoscopic brow lift, endoscopic facelift, traditional facelift, surgical neck lift, upper and lower eyelid surgery, removal of excess skin from any part of the body, inner thigh lift, arm lift, cellulite reduction (Endermologie), chemical peels, microdermabrasion, Botox® injections, collagen injections, facial rejuvenation, varicose vein removal, hair removal, scar revision, mole removal, torn earlobe repair and vaginal tightening surgery. All surgery is done using local lidocaine and epinephrine and IV sedation. We generally use Demerol, Valium and Brevitol for IV sedation. IV sedation is administered by an RN under the direct supervision of Dr. Elkins. Our RNs are well trained in IV sedation and in the use of these drugs. All nurses are ACLS certified. Patients are monitored constantly during surgery and the post-operative period until they are ready to go home.
